About
At 19, Mari was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She likens her chronic illness to a fire-breathing dragon in her brain, passed down through genetics. Through a journey of discovering the horrible yet humorous societal perceptions of the disorder, Bipolar Badass tells a story of navigating life with a seemingly terrifying new identity. This dark comedy asks the question, if we have power over fear, what is there to be scared of? Winner: Craig Stephenson Memorial Award for New Talent Edinburgh Fringe 2025 Winner: Best Autobiographical One Woman Show United Solo Festival 2024 Winner: Bounce Emerging Artist Award Edinburgh Fringe 2023 “Bipolar Badass brings honesty and humor to what it's like to live with bipolar disorder--and its many public and media misconceptions. Mari captures the trial and error of diagnosis, the impact of mental illness on loved ones, and the importance of self-acceptance. A must see!” Matt Kudish, CEO National Alliance On Mental Illness (NAMI) NYC
