About
With four actors assuming the significant artistic undertaking of inhabiting the 19 roles of Othello, Bedlam’s casting emphasizes the claustrophobia of Othello’s experience as the lone Black man with power in his society. In Othello, under Iago’s manipulations, the foundations of Othello’s life, and even his reality, begin to cave in around him—and the agency and esteem white society has so conditionally granted him reveal their illusory nature.
